  1. Visit the three majestic natural sites of Guachochi: the Cañón del Jaguar canyon, Cumbres de Guerachi peaks, and the Barranca de Sinforosa ravine. These places evoke a sense of space and immensity.
  2. Stay in one of the cabins on the way to Guerachi or eat in their restaurants. This stop will allow you to admire the waterfalls that are over 100-foot-high in the Centro Ecoturístico Kokoyome.
  3. Spoil yourself with one of the dishes made with trout, one of Guachochi gastronomy’s main ingredients.

There are two perfect moments a year to visit Guachochi and take trips nearby, in spring and autumn when the weather is neither too hot nor too cold. Also in July, if you want to be there for the ultramarathon and experience the amazement of witnessing the Rarámuri people run.

Barranca de Sinforosa

This spectacular ravine is over 6,000-foot at its deepest part, from the viewpoint of Cumbres de Guerachi, and at the bottom of it flows the Río Verde, the most important tributary of the Río Fuerte. It’s narrow but incredibly deep, which makes it stand out amongst the world’s ravines. One of the most beautiful routes is through Cumbres de Sinforosa peaks, where a trail snakes between magnificent sheer rock faces. Along the way you will pass the incredible Rosalinda waterfalls; with its 260-foot drop it’s one of the region’s most beautiful.

Cañón del Jaguar

Impressive peaks and cliffs with deep ravines, all surrounded by incredible contrasts and views that will captivate all visitors. To best appreciate this landscape, follow the old trail of Guachochi- Sinforosa for 6 miles from the center of town, until you get to the Mirador del Cañón del Jaguar viewpoint, the perfect place to connect with nature and marvel at the beauty of this canyon.

Cascada El Salto

This recreational space is the most refreshing of spots, and offers the opportunity of a boat trip, fishing, or hiking. This place is the ideal destination for an adventure: visit the incredible Cascada El Salto, which is directly in front of this natural Paradise, and get away for a moment from the chaos of the city.

Go Abseiling in Hierbabuena

Just over a mile to the south, this rock cavity formed in ancient times was once inhabited by the Rarámuri people. It is surrounded by a beautiful forest with an incredible view of the Río Guachochi and it’s perfect for camping, hiking, abseiling and climbing. The main attraction in this area is the view from the Piedra de la Virilidad, a natural rock formation in the shape of the male reproductive organ, which is about 100-foot tall.

Camp in the Middle
of the Mountain Range

The Centro Ecoturístico Kokoyome forms a part of the Cumbres de Guerachi and is the perfect place to enjoy nature to the full. Apart from its beautiful surroundings, this ecotourism center has a waterfall and hiking trails. Amongst the services offered are cabins to stay in, and a camping zone. During your stay you should make sure to try the local delicacies.

Visit Parque Las Garzas
